Professor Tadj Oreszczyn announced as second keynote speaker

We have great pleasure in announcing our 2nd Keynote Speaker for IREE 2017, Professor Tadj Oreszczyn from UCL, UK.

Professor Tadj Oreszczyn is the Director of The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER), Director of the RCUK Centre for Energy Epidemiology (CEE) and Professor of Energy and Environment at the UCL Energy Institute, University College London. Prior to becoming the Director of BSEER in August 2014, Prof Oreszczyn was the founding Director of the UCL Energy Institute, a highly multi-disciplinary group of 170 staff and MSc/MRes/PhD students working on a £28m portfolio of funded projects.

The UCL Energy Institute has the aim of accelerating the transition to a globally sustainable energy system through world-class energy research, education and policy support. Prof Oreszczyn is also the Director of the RCUK Centre for Energy Epidemiology based at the UCL Energy Institute. This centre undertakes research to help the UK reduce its energy demand in buildings and transport and is one of six government funded research centres in energy demand. The centre is currently leading the establishment of an International Energy Agency Annex (70) in building energy epidemiology.

Prof Oreszczyn has for 34 years undertaken energy and building research with a particular focus around the performance gap between theory and practice and the unintended consequences (health, comfort, etc.) of building energy efficiency. He has been involved in over 170 research publications. He was invited to give evidence to the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee on Energy Efficiency, and he has co-authored two papers for the special issues of the Lancet on Energy and Health and prepared three papers for a State of Science Review for the Office of Science and Innovation. Prof Oreszczyn has provided research support for the development of the English and Welsh Building Regulations and he has presented at invited public and academic lectures at the Royal Society and the Royal Institution. Prof Oreszczyn is a Fellow and a Vice President of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) and sits on the CIBSE Board.
