Paper & Presentation Awards

There are four paper/poster awards for the conference: best academic paper/poster, best student paper/poster, best practitioner paper/poster and best presentation (people’s choice). 

Best Academic Paper / Poster

will be judged on three criteria:

  • novelty (meaning the paper is interesting, different and/or contributing something new)
  • contribution to theory
  • impact for the residential energy sector. 

Academic papers will be judged by the IREE Scientific Committee. 

Best Student Paper / Poster

Will be judged on three criteria:

  • potential of the research to contribute to academic knowledge
  • research addresses a significant issue for the energy sector 
  • the paper/poster communicates in a clear and concise way that a broad (interdisciplinary) audience can understand. 

Best Practitioner Paper / Poster

will be judged on two criteria:

  • most innovative initiative 
  • impact of the initiative for the residential energy sector. 

Best Presentation

is a people’s choice award. In the presentation we will be looking for engaging content and novelty. This will be judged by people attending the conference. Everyone will be given the opportunity to vote for the best presentation via the event app.
